Not happy with his appeasement of refugee-bashing, but I'll say Neutral for now.

FF, only because despite being unknown and his party being a disadvantage for him in a deep red state. He came from behind and won big.

Instead of Republican winning due to a democrat president being unpopular in the state.

Its Democrat winning due to republican governor being unpopular in the state.

OR he's trying to say its funny how A democrat won by campaigning on being "pro-life", was against gay marriage, pro gun ownership and supporting oil/gas drilling.

But so was his opponent.  As has been said so eloquently on this forum, "conservative Democrat/Southern Democrat/Dixiecrat" implies conservative FOR A DEMOCRAT, not Democrat who is a conservative.

John Bel Edwards is an anti-choice, NRA approved, conservadem who won this election by appealing to the moralistic obsessions of rubes ('prostitutes over patriots' sounds like something straight out of Rove's 2004 playbook). As a liberal, I would be a hypocrite if I voted anything but HP.

The question there is, he is a Democrat from LA, what do you expect? I consider myself to be a liberal, but I can still support a candidate who ran for the Democratic party in a considerably red (blue on Atlas) state.
