Under any circumstance can a Political party strip  a member of  their party affiliation, or at the vary least kick a member out of the that parties caucus, but have that member keep their affiliation.

They can kick legislators out of their caucus and off of committees, but unlike foreign political parties they aren't able to remove anyone from the ballot or, in the post-primary era, prevent anyone from seeking their party's nomination. Best they can do is have the national committee and national party figures disavow the candidate and demand they drop out (Todd Akin, etc.). In the pre-primary era they were able to expel party members in the traditional sense, which happened once to a sitting President; John Tyler was expelled from the Whigs.

LaRouche v Fowler established that parties could deny candidates delegates they had earned in presidential primaries if the party felt the candidate wasn't representative of their views, since parties are private clubs. They still don't have the power to keep Lyndon LaRouche from saying "I'm a Democrat" when he gets his drivers license or whatever.

They kicked John Tyler out of the Whig party

He and Andrew Johnson were copperhead Dems, used by Harrison and Lincoln to help bring in the south electorally.

But, if anyone deserved it was Charlie Rangel.

I know he was an unorthodox dem but what did he do that so worthy of expulsion.

If they could, Trump would have been out a long time ago.

John Tyler was the most constitutional president of all time. He was kicked out of the whig party because they flip-flopped
Tyler was a traitor who joined the Confederacy.
