Assaulted can mean a lot of different things.  You can assault someone by shoving them.  You can assault someone by stabbing them with a knife.  But, it needs to be reasonable self-defense in defense of their life.

And, they have arrested two people, one white and one Hispanic.

There seem to be multiple parties in the wrong here. That much hasn't changed. The counter-protesters aimed to incite. The protesters took the bait and attacked them. The counter-protesters attacked back. Ideally, they all go to jail for a while.

The shooting was horrible, but the BLM, did assault counter-protesters. Though the anti-BLM are objectively hundreds of times worse.

I also heard elsewhere that his parents moved back to Texas where they were originally from because they were effectively outcast by their neighbors and social circles.

Two of his friends also took plea bargains to related charges, another two had charges dismissed because it was revealed they weren't present with him at the actual shooting and weren't involved in the post coverup.
