Jackson wins by a relatively small margin. I could handle the weather of International Falls but Jackson probably has more to do.

Jackson is a 2 1/2 hour drive to New Orleans, while International Falls is a 2 1/2 hour drive to other International Falls (like Duluth).

I'm pleasantly surprised by these results. I thought for sure this forum would pick International Falls because of it's love of horrible climates and hatred of the South. I guess not all hope is lost on you guys! Grin

well the pictures aren't exactly helpful either.

Jackson, MS is the only place I've ever been where the Chinese restaurant was run exclusively by white people.

International Falls is kind of a crappy, declining town... but its proximity to outdoor activities are pretty great and the natural scenery is far, far better than Jackson.

But it's very isolated.

I'd pick Int'l Falls any day.

That's strange. Which restaurant?

It was in like 2001.. I have no idea.  I just remember it struck me as odd.  I don't take that to mean anything general... but I had it in my head that Chinese restaurants were only run by Chinese people.

I know it wasn't just the waitstaff because the cook came out and it was a kinda chubbyish mid-late 20s white dude with a typical accent for the area.

Also.. it was pretty nice.  LIke it was very very clean and well maintained.

Head scratcher this one is. Weather plus lack of isolation goes to Jackson, but it's Mississippi , and rather crime-ridden for a medium sized city (worse than Intl falls at any rate). Not to mention the schools in MS.

I guess IF i could find a home in a low crime neighborhood with decent integrated school, I'd pick Jackson (but a big "if" i realize).
