They waited way too long to try to sink him. Now he's becoming kind of unstoppable.

The thing they can do now is try to cap his support base to the 25-30% he gets in the polls, and hope some candidate can come along that can sweep the rest. Sadly for them, Cruz rising makes that fairly problematic.

This is quite possible. The GOP went nuclear on Gingrich only, what, about two weeks after he took the poll lead? Gingrich then was the flavor of the month, and could fall like those before him. Trump has become the flavor of the year.

Trump's not going to decline on his own. If the GOP wants to beat him, they have to consolidate, and even in a three-way Trump/Rubio/Cruz matchup Trump's support would make him a formidable option. They need a one-on-one, and that'll be difficult to get.

Kinda hard to have a plan when there's a thousand candidates still in.

Especially because they don't have the alternative. Jeb is already finished, Kasich and Christie also do very poorly. Romney could possible turn things around, but he won't enter the race. My prediction is, that the establishment will rally behind Rubio in the end.

Kasich's SuperPAC attacks might be the most comically bad in history.

HERE'S A BUNCH OF CLIPS OF DONALD SAYING THINGS THE GOP BASE AGREES WITH--DONALD TRUMP: HE'S NOT A POLITICIAN.

It wouldn't surprise me if these "attack" ads are what end up solidifying him above 40%.

The establishment wanted Jeb. Then they settled for Rubio as a "compromise candidate." But the Tea Party altered the deal, and now they may have to settle for Cruz as the compromise between Rubio and Trump! Hilarious.

Will the big money establishment types continue to wait if Trump is leading in the polls a month from now? how about two months from now?

John Kasich will weaken Trump as Marco Rubio runs a positive campaign and becomes the nominee before selecting John Kasich for Vice President. That's the deal.

A lot of messages don't seem that damaging until you put them in black and white with spooky music as in an attack ad.  Tongue

Also...

How are they defining "his supporters"?  Anyone who would answer "Trump" when polled for their first choice in one of these opinion polls?  It is still early enough that many of these people will be leaners (not just for Trump, but for all candidates), not that firmly committed to any candidate.  Are they including these people among "Trump supporters"?  Or do they just mean his core supporters?  You don't need to dislodge his core supporters in order to beat him.

Honestly the GOP is in deep trouble none of their picks are electable.  Trump is  the best hope they have and really the only way hes electable is if  econmic and foreign affairs take a huge dump in the next 12 months. The ladder is actually starting to happen

Rubio = is the worst type of candidate because is so obvious hes a puppet with steel cables as strings.

Bush= Bush enough said

Kasich= "I was for and against" at the same time type of guy.... hes like John Kerry Lite

Cruz= I don't know but Just odd  Hillary would make him look like Goldwater.. not saying he couldn't win but you know the debt thing will dog him in a GE.

Except Trump consistently clears 50% in these hypothetical one-one-one matchups.

Time to face the facts folks: Trump is inevitable.

I have a question for Lief.

You are a democrat. If TRUMP will win the nomination, will you support him in the GENERAL election?

Maybe the RNC should consider hiring a Mexican hit man to shoot him?
