He [Kennedy] should've won California, I know there's home-state stuff, but there's no way the Bay Area and L.A. wouldn't have gone out in droves....hell JFK was carrying California the whole of the actual Election Night...only the absentee ballots flipped that vote...and that was when both were virtually tied by PV.

Sorry but an all Red West Coast is far more plausible than JFK taking the Plains.

After being out of power for 20 years the Democrats would be willing to change their platform to win and I think this map illustrates that.

You've got a 1940 PoD. That's enough time to substantially alter voting patterns given how volatile the map was between 1940 and 1960 in real life. Deal wif it and move on, folks.
