All Hogan has done is piss on Baltimore. That makes many Marylanders happy. No doubt he will lose next election, though. I believe Erlich had a positive approval in 2006.

No doubt his battle with cancer impacted this. He hasn't done much yet, either.

Baker & Hogan are unRauner or George Pataki in their states and likely to be reelected. Too bad the GOP isnt having thatsort of luck in Senate race.

Hogan and Baker may be dangerous to target. If anything, they could severely hurt Democratic chances in those states in the long run.

Mass is a solid Dem state & voted for Romney, a morman. If Ehlrich didnt hurt Cardin 's chances in Senate, I dont think Hogan does anything in 2016 against Van Hollan, who is Shriver like in MD.

Recently, Hogan was sued by the NAACP and ACLU for civil rights violation, following his cancellation of the Red Line and subsequent approval of a "roads for anywhere but Baltimore" plan.

The money quote:
"[A]t the same time [the state] determined that it would be 'wasteful' for Maryland to spend $1.235 billion on what they had previously described as a much needed, but yet non-existent, public transportation solution for Baltimore, [the state] committed to spending nearly as much on improvements to already existing roads in other parts of the state. Given these facts, the
cancellation of the Red Line Project, rather than being a cost-saving measure, was simply a
naked transfer of resources from the project corridor’s primarily African-American population to
other rural and suburban parts of the state, several of which have predominantly Caucasian
populations

I think this has also something to do with his cancer battle this year.

Bob Ehrlich in 2006 was the equivalent of Ann Richards in 1994, popular, but running in a bad year with the wrong party label.

Did the 2006 anti Republican wave totally account for Bob Ehrlich losing?  Let's look at some of the election results in other blue states in 2006

California- Arnold Schwarzenegger reelected 56-39 percent
Connecticut- Jodi Rell wins 63-36 percent
Hawaii- Linda Lingle reelected 63-36
Rhode Island- Don Carcieri reelected 51-49 percent
Vermont- Jim Douglas reelected 56-41 percent

Why is it that even with an approval rating in the high 50's, Bob Ehrlich lost in Maryland?

Everyone who wanted to run in MD, who could have competeted with Hogan, have had a drop in approvals since the riots, except Van Hollen, who will likely be Sen-elect. Stephanie Rawlings & Governor OMalley favorables plunged since then.
