Well, okay, on second thought and in the spirit of ecumenicism, I have always enjoyed the Yiddish-inspired speech stylings of Master Yoda.  I still sometimes imitate him, jokingly, with my son.

"A real comedian, you are."

Stuff like that.  He giggles.

Okay, then, it's settled.  Yoda.  If you're gracious enough to allow the user to change one's vote, then I'll delete my original vote and vote for Yoda.  If not, then you have only yourself to blame.

Nope, don't see the "remove vote" option.

I think Kylo Ren might sneak into the top five, I have a feeling.

I never latched on to Star Wars, but as a kid I watched the original movies and have to vote Han Solo, no doubt about it.

I always found it a bit hard to relate to.  Star Wars came out in 1977, when I was 10.  A whole bunch of my chums loved it.  They still do, apparently.  I haven't figured out the source of that love.  It's not that I don't appreciate the science fiction genre.  I'm a big fan.  Asimov, Orwell, Clarke, Jules Verne, Bradbury, etc.  Big fan.  Rarely do I find an episode of Star Trek (the original series or the next generation) that I haven't seen and enjoyed.

Yeah, I can understand that, and in a lot of ways I think you nailed it. Star Wars is not science fiction in the same sense that Star Trek is. Star Wars is a coming of age action story set in space. Star Trek either examines contemporary social and economic issues or else is more of a mystery/drama set in space, which is probably what I tend to like about it. I'm really not a big science fiction fan, and never was, but somehow always enjoyed Trek.

other:  none.

But I cannot understand the Star Wars cult.  I've been dragged to just about every movie by some friend or another, and I have yet to see one I really enjoy.  I also enjoyed Dune (both the movie and the book), and I can even sit through Doctor Who (if there's nothing else to watch on TV), but I can't abide Star Wars.

(Sorry to dump on your thread, especially so early in the thread, but it's a rant that I've kept inside too long:  Star Wars holds no appeal to me.  Maybe I'm just too unsophisticated to enjoy it.  Maybe it's just really bad writing.  Maybe it's in some secret language that I don't understand.  Either way, I haven't found any characters in any of the movies worth relating to.)

You just described my attitude towards Star Trek perfectly.

As for on topic: Qui Gon Jinn

His discovery of the Force Ghost and the secret to obtaining it, his no nonsense attitude when sh%t  gets real, and his enduring compassion and preference for the actions in front rather than obsessing over "destiny".

Luke Skywalker obviously, can't wait to see what an aged Luke Skywalker does and is like in this new trilogy.

Very well then, the first on Atlas you are. More Jar-Jar than Yoda, disturbing this is.

Fun challenge to consider when discussing Star Wars characters, courtesy of the amazing RedLetterMedia review of the Phantom Menace.
