Do people buy phones based on the memory or the mega-pixels in the camera?  It's a question of functionality.  The iphone has the best form and function and it's worth paying a little extra because you use your phone so often.

I love how all the "anti-hipster" people who probably also think they're above buying things because of "cool" brand are literally saying anything made by Apple is better.

Even more funny since basically all people with high level IT or programming jobs hate iphones. People who know tech stuff do not consider them superior.

So imagine if on a Windows computer (or actually even on a Mac for that matter), you could only download applications and programs for it if Microsoft or Apple personally approved every single one (and the app maker had to pay them to even be considered for consideration)...and if the developer made new versions and added new features Microsoft or Apple had to personally approve even that before it could made me available for download or upgrade. And your computer came with a bunch of programs that you'd probably never use (yeah that happens now but wait for it) that you couldn't even uninstall.

If Apple ever did that for the latest Mac version they're be a massive internet freakout, yet for some reason so many don't seem to care about them doing basically just that with iPhones.

"Expert opinions" don't impact consumer experience like that. You should make purchasing decisions on the basis of what you want. People with additional knowledge can tell you what the technical lingo is for what you want, but that's not how you should decide what you want.

I enjoy the Apple interface and find it easier to use than other phones.

The only maker of Android phones that has any type of fanboy following at all is Samsung. And even that is pretty mild and far less creepy in comparison to the Apple cult. I had to deal with that for almost five years when I worked for them.

But I've never met anyone who bases their lives around their ownership of LG or HTC or Motorola or Kyocera or yes even Samsung products and worships the company with a cult-like level of devotion.

I work in tech and BRTD is right about tech nerds (generally) hating Apple products because of the price/performance issue and, to a lesser extent, the annoyingness of the suckers consumers of the products.  Yes, your phone is better for you, you like your phone more than the other phones.  That doesn't mean it is better.  By any real measurement there is always a better alternative to an Apple product.  It might not be better for YOU, but it's better in general.
