Have we reached a tipping point in our discussion about political correctness?

A baker in Springfield Ohio, Trent Schuler, says that we have. Do you agree?

The sign in the window at his shop reads:

Notice
This store is politically
incorrect
We say
Merry Christmas
God Bless America
We salute our flag &
give thanks
to our troops, police
officers and fire fighters.
If this offends you, you

These anti-PC people are such idiots. I haven't seen one person who is offended by any of the things they think the "muh evil liberals" are against.

Also- being "pc" is just being polite. Why would you want to be rude to people and sound ignorant?

My problem with talking about political correctness is that most people who complain about it are just idiots, or completely mis-using the term. Ben Carson for instance basically said that laws against torture are a form of political correctness, which is totally incoherent. Many right-wingers basically just use the term "political correctness" as an excuse to be a**holes.

There's legitimate criticism to be made of it but as usual humans make everything stupid.

This is AMERICA; we say MERRY CHRISTMAS! whether you like it or not. I don't want to see any of that XMAS nonsense either. I don't shop at holiday stores. My boycott list can easily extend beyond Macy's (my former favorite store!), Starbucks (my favorite coffee), and Nabisco (I have cut back, not a boycott yet)

If we are done with political correctness, I just want to be able to call every white racist thug around here a white racist thug, without him (or her) running to ask for the protection against at "personal attack".

This sounds good until you realize this would allow people to attack black and Hispanics without repercussions.

As if they do not already.

People who complain about "political correctness" or "PC culture" are worse than the stereotype they are rallying against. Moreover, replace "politically correct" with "treating others with respect," (great chrome extension BTW) to understand how these people tick.

Replace "abortion" with "murdering children", look they can make semi-true statements pop up across the Internet too.

PC is annoying at times but people make a bigger deal of it than it is. No one is going to care if you say Merry Christmas. The stores only change because they dont want to take any chances since there are always idiots who boycott a store for some stupid reason or another and the store is smart to try to limit that.

It would certainly make the logic of "I support murdering children only in the case of incest, rape, or health of the mother" a bit harder to follow.

I mean, people in general are too easily offended, but when or not you call that "political correctness" is irrelevant to me.

It would help point out how idiotic moderate heroes who can tolerate such exceptions are so maybe there is a plus.

We all support PC to some degree, we just disagree what and who we don't have to be PC about. I'm sure we all could say something here which almost everybody would find offensive. If I as example decided to use anti-Jewish slurs against ag even if it didn't originate as a slur, I don't think anybody including the people who are against PC would think it was okay.

This sign is about as uncontroversial and politically correct as it gets. If you really want to offend people, putting up a sign saying " THE TROOPS"  and burning an American flag would be much more effective.

I'm too scared to try and be PC around people, as I don't want them to complain about it or get offended.

Well, Trent Schuler has what it takes to be a marketing genius in our society that is just saturated with political correctness.  The question is whether brave Americans will answer the call and stuff their mouths with his diabetes inducing, stroke causing, gangrene implicating so-called "food."  Looks like a slam dunk!

(Apparently it's not un-PC to thank the ambulance workers who have to deal with the customers.  I assume the oversight is intentional)

One thing that I wanted to bring up is the usage of the phrase "holiday tree".

If you use the phrase because you actually want to, then that's fine. If you use it because you are afraid of offending someone by calling it a "Christmas tree", then you have bigger problems.

Anyone who is actually bothered or offended by the word "Christmas" needs to get bent.

Are we getting offended over everything these days?
