1) Denial - "Trump isn't actually ahead, the polls just suck. And even if he is, he's just a flavor of the month and will collapse soon. Nothing to worry about!"

2) Anger - "How is this asshole still in the lead after calling Mexicans rapists, denigrating John McCain's military service, making sexist comments toward women, etc.? This is outrageous!"

3) Bargaining - "Okay, Trump is in the lead now, but his lead is overstated. On top of that, once people coalesce around another alternative, Trump has a good chance of being defeated. Please Trumpites, just support our "compromise candidate" of Marco Rubio. Hell, we'll even settle for Ted Cruz. Just please ditch Trump, okay?"

4) Depression - Not yet here. Will likely start after Trump wins his first primary.

5) Acceptance - Will come if Trump clinches the nomination, and the GOP realizes it either has to live with him or completely destroy any chance it has of winning by cheating him out of the nomination, which will either cause his voters to stay home or rally to his independent candidacy.

It is funny and all, but Trump has no chance.  He leads in national polls but that is because he is a famous, wealthy reality TV star and author.  But he is not even serious about winning.  This is all a charade, a way for Trump to get attention and prove that he could win if he really wanted to (which he can't, but Trump will exit the race in time to preserve that illusion).
Trump is playing this brilliantly.

With the exception of the bolded part, this really is a post from 6 months.

If Cruz wins Iowa, we'll be in the bargaining stage for a while. If Trump wins Iowa, depression is going to hit pretty fast.

It's almost worth seeing Donald beat Hillary in the general election just to see the look on IceSpear's face.

I agree with Maxwell here.  I thought we were past this, but some haven't gotten the memo.
