To sum up, Mitch McConnell wants to remove the spending caps on political parties spend in coordination with candidates. This means mega-donors, more than ever, would be able to influence the political system. For once, the Freedom Caucus stands up in courageous flair and says no! And on an issue that matters!

There's a stereotype of the Freedom Caucus on the left that they represent the most hardcore Republicans on every issue, but there are issues in which the Freedom Caucus has in fact voted with liberal Democrats. NSA surveillance, for instance.

The money would have to be reported. There would be a lot more transparency under McConnell's reforms. The money would either go to a SuperPAC or the parties. By definition parties are larger coalitions that are harder to influence than niche Super PACs. McConnell's making a lot of sense here.

The Freedom Caucus is afraid because then they would have to play ball within the political process rather than freeloading off it and claiming themselves as outsiders.

Freedom Caucus, once again, proving it is mentally unstable.
