Or is it for attention to bring up the idea? In 2012 he said that Mainers are best when they are represented by the majority. 2014 comes, the GOP takes the Senate. Then he says Mainers should be represented by both sides, despite that not being the case for 18 years. Will he ever actually switch, and if not, what may be his next excuse?

Unlikely. He would be by far the most liberal member of the caucus, which, since late 1970th - early 1980th (Case, Javits, Mathias) is not inclined to tolerate liberalism... So - no.

Its pretty clear that the GOP is way too far away from him ideologically for it to happen.

He will have to take a clear stand in Obamacare repeal and defunding of Planned Parenthood, to the detriment of Kelly Ayotte. Which the GOP just voted on. And his position is pretty clear on the other side. I think he wants to stay as a Dem.

Probably.

His attention-seeking isn't any worse than the hardcore partisans which make people like John McCain be called Mavericks.

He would have to come out against ObamaCare to be allowed in. And I don't think he's willing to do that.

He would make Lisa Murkowski look like a hardcore conservative...

If he ever did flip he'd be incredibly isolated in the Senate.     He'd basically be a lonely little island of left-leaning moderate Republicans (which there are ZERO currently).

I don't think he will. I like Angus King but the party would never let him caucus with them

Either party would let almost anyone caucus with them, if it made the difference between minority and majority party. He probably wouldn't do it - he definitely wouldn't feel welcome in the GOP cloak room - but they would be crazy to turn down the ability to place a majority on every single Senate Committee just because they didn't like the guy

This...10 million times over and over again. This man will be a c*@k tease stripper to the Republicans every two years. Get them real close to thinking they have a shot with him, only to be denied, and send them back with blue balls.

No I doubt he ever will unless dems go below 38. I'm mostly pleased about the double pun.
