I do remember an interesting diary years ago in daily kos in response to constant Bush/Hitler comparisons which suggested that a more apt parallel was to Kaiser Willhelm II and I can kind of see it. Both were the not particularly bright scions of a political dynasty who were surrounded early on by many of there father (and in the case of Kaiser Willhelm) grandfather's advisors. Both also by the time they left office were almost universally hated having launched a war and caused widespread economic ruin in there respective countries.
