West coast, midwest, and east coast.  All three have very similar politics and are the major suburban counties of the three largest US cities.  Which one would you most prefer to live in?

Edit: I would pick Orange

Hmm...

I've always thought it'd be cool to live in the real OC, but I don't know if I could, I like seasons.

Don't really ever care to live in New York, at least not near the city.

Gonna go with my home state.

Screw the OC and all it stands for, no part of California is more embarrassing...none!

Nassau and DuPage have acceptable climates and cities to flock to, but I'll lean DuPage since I like Chicago more.

DuPage, I love living near Chicago. The weather in Cali may be nicer, but I prefer the kinds of Republicans in DuPage rather than Orange County.

Hinsdale, Elmhurst, and the Oakbrook area would be nice.

Elmhurst is beautiful.  If I ever had a family and wanted to stay in Chicagoland that would be my town, really nice downtown.  LaGrange is very nice too

Process of elimination.

My belief is that New York is a sprawling mass of ghettos and air pollution.
I can't stand California weather.
Therefore, I voted DuPage.

If I didn't have an attachment to the Midwest and specifically Illinois, I might go with Orange County.  I am such a beach person, and I hate the winter; it was a cruel irony that I was born in Illinois and grew up to be a proud Illinoisan (it seems there are too few of those).  However, I have to go with DuPage.

Orange is considerably more conservative than DuPage and Nassau.

Voted DuPage because I love Chicagoland and the Midwest as a whole. Count me in as proud to be an Illinoisan.

They're really not that close.

DuPage and Nassau both voted for Obama in 2012 and 2008. Orange voted Republican both times.

This in addition to the fact that Orange is considerably more diverse than Nassau and especially DuPage, as well as Orange containing considerable urban area (Anaheim etc).

If you take only the parts of Orange that are actually similar to DuPage and Nassau (white and suburban), it is obvious that the climate in Orange is much more conservative than in the other two.

True, I just feel that our state is way too sectionally divided, and I've always considered that stupid.  From Galena to Chicago to Peoria to Champaign to Springfield to the Metro East to the beautiful Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois, I consider Illinois to be a great all around state that is a perfect microcosm of the United States as a whole.  It makes me sick when Downstate people rip on Chicago or Chicago people rip on suburbanites or other things like that.

Nassau County: the City and the Beach, who could ask for anything more?

Orange County is just one giant Rick Warren mega-church, gross. Or at least it will be until Santa Ana's residents start to vote in greater numbers.

DuPage is probably a nice place. But no ocean, so.....

Orange County is an extremely diverse place, and I'm not talking about Santa Ana. Actually it is one of the least diverse places in the county since it's mostly Hispanics of Mexican descent. Look up places like Irvine, Fullerton, Anaheim, Buena Park etc etc.

Orange County - yes it votes republican but its also 70 degrees most of the year and there's plenty of "hip" areas.

I'll take your word for it that it's becoming more diverse; I've never been to California. But somehow I get the feeling that for every town you mentioned, there's a corresponding Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest and Rancho Santa Margarita.

Orange County, most definitely. California has a far better government than the others and Orange County has some of the best weather anywhere in the world. I can tolerate living in a Republican county in a Democratic state far more than vise versa (provided there are Democratic alcoves, which Orange County has a number of).

DuPage since I prefer Chicago to LA and I don't like Long Island that much. However, I'd choose north NJ over all of these.

Even those cities are fairly diverse with a large, growing population of Hispanics and Asians. I predict those places will become far more Asian in the coming decade.

I wouldn't mind living in either one, but Chicago is one of my favorite cities, so I have to give a slight advantage to DuPage.
