I worked in Bridgeport, it's honestly not that bad. Plus, it gave us this little gem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBDBaMGvJtw

Baghdad - 1,300 year history, scientific and philosophic center of the world for 500 years, tremendous importance in the modern era, and you just don't get the "thank God I'm alive" feeling each day in Bridgeport like you would in Baghdad.

Never been to Brideport, but as a native Peorian, it pisses me off when people rag on a city they've only driven through or something.

One is a crime riddled city with buildings stacked up inches away from each other. The other is Baghdad.

Anyone saying Baghdad is a bit dense and probably has never been to Bridgeport.

Yes a lot of it is decaying and riddled with poverty but there are some working/middle class sections of the city. On top of that the downtown area is actually being built up again and there are new restaurants/stores/etc that have popped up over the past few years. They have minor league hockey and baseball too.

Have you ever been there? Or just guessing based off of a wikipedia article?

I'd rather stay close to home than get decapitated by ISIS. Bridgeport, without a doubt.

This is correct. As a former Fairfield county resident, I can safely say that city blows... And in was just in Bridgeport in September. I almost got robbed twice in that God forbidden city. The only thing it has going for it is the Merritt Canteen. That's it.

Couldn't have said it better and their history goes back at least 5,000 years which is when the myth of Dumuzi may have began.  Bridgeport is in a blue state anyways, albeit light blue, but still too blue for me.

In Baghdad you could also shoot at trespassers to defend yourself! Think about it and if you had enough money no one would say a word.  This is my kind of place.

Bridgeport (normal). Baghdad is a vast wasteland.

It has more people than Hartford, which sounds wrong but is true.

It also has gas stations without pumps. I've never seen that, but Seth must have when he drove down here from Kent.

How many times a year do you think you'd get mugged (or worse) in Baghdad ?

Ever been to the Black Rock hood in Bridgeport? It doesn't seem so horrible, and will soon have a metro station to NYC. In any event, would you really rather live in Bagdad than Blackrock?

Of course I have.  When I worked for Congressman Shays, I went there all the time when we had meetings at his house. It's a nice area, but it's a small section of the city. For the nearly 30 year of living around that city, and having to deal with work, and going into that city for other things, I've grown to hate it with a passion.

I'm a white, gay male... so I'd imagine I would get mugged less in Baghdad.

Just always drive west from Black Rock to do your shopping and recreating and so forth, and it will be all good. Heck I have a rough block right in back of me. It's fine. I just don't make a habit of walking it at night alone.

Meh, I still hate Bridgeport, and hope I never have to go to that horrible city again.
