15 votes have been posted so far (through Umengus); 1 (KentonNgo) is likely invalid on basis of activity requirements.

Governors Race
Joe Republic - 7
(Write in) Dean - 3 (2 flow to Joe Republic)
Opebo - 2
Abstain - 2

Prop 13: 13 - 1 - 0
Prop 14: 14 - 2 - 0
Init 05: 11 - 3 - 0
Init 06: 12 - 0 - 2
Init 07: 12 - 2 - 0

Please note that Init 07 requires a 2/3 majority to pass.

I have checked, and Kenton's vote is indeed invalid.

Went That Way has just voted, which brings the results so far to:

Governors Race
Joe Republic - 7
(Write in) Dean - 3 (2 flow to Joe Republic)
Opebo - 3
Abstain - 2

Prop 13: 14 - 1 - 0
Prop 14: 14 - 3 - 0
Init 05: 12 - 3 - 0
Init 06: 13 - 0 - 2
Init 07: 13 - 2 - 0

Also, turnout is currently at 44%.

I have, of course, been following this election closely.  I must say I find it rather ironic that someone who has voted for himself via write-in before has finally started a movement of some sort this time.

The votes I find most surprising are those of Mike Naso and Philip.  Mike Naso because I would have assumed he'd try and help the underdog, and score a victory reminiscent of his truly screwed up victory for that Senate seat.

I have it on fairly good authority that Dean's votes have been strategic.  Though I don't wish to begrudge him of his votes, of course.

That's a fairly poor assumption.  I don't intend to analyse the inner workings of Mike Naso's mind, but I can't really see him voting for Opebo or Dean.

Philip however, is a different story.  I was kind of hoping I could court the trollish nutjob vote, but it turns out I've failed.  I also never knew he supported socialized handgun distribution.

Philip supports murder, so its no surprise that he supports a candidate who finds murder "merely inconvenient for society" and votes to maintain an easy supply of murder weapons.

Well, as some have theorized privately, Mike Naso should have voted for a protest candidate on the grounds that people with goofy political opinions should always stick together.

Hmm.  Fans of Philip (FOP) has endorsed Opebo on the grounds that Joe Republic calls Philip a "trollish nutjob." Wink

Yeah, that's a bit odd.  Hopefully he'll elaborate on that.

Several more people have voted since Joe's vote count.  This may have decent turn out after all.

Well that was disappointing -- Opebo didn't get the Lt. Gov. spot!

I made an underground campaign because I did not want to think about Opebo being Lt. Gov. He would be next in line to rule one fifth of our nation and I fear for the safety of our children.

Now honestly, what can Opebo do as a Lt. Governor?  Nothing?  It's not as if Joe Republic would abruptly resign, and if he did, that'd be funny as hell anyway.  What's more important: the safety of fictional Atlasian children or entertainment value?  Tongue

Yeah I think that was the point I was making.

Oh well, the election's over and the results are final.  You won't have Opebo to kick around anymore -- till the next time he runs for office.

OK sorry for my absence.  I was asleep, you know. Tongue

My commiserations to Opebo on his defeat.  I think we were all surprised by his enthusiastic campaign, and I particularly found our debate to have been really challenging and enjoyable.  I hope to see him remain active in Atlasian politics.

Congratulations to Dean and Al - you can both be sworn in this Friday.  The oath can be found in Article IV, Clause 7 of the Mideast Constitution.

Until then, I'm going to enjoy my last week as the lone ruler of one fifth of the nation.  BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA *ahem*

Sorry to nitpick but I think Philip's vote is invalid because he didn't have an avatar or a note in his sig.

He did at the time I certified the vote, so it still counts.
