While the first clause is in reference to deceptive marketing tactics surrounding latex, the rest of the law is intended to encompass all balloons - whether latex or mylar (foil).  There are many items that end up in the stomachs of sea turtles, marine birds, fish and sharks, etc., but beach clean-up groups name balloons as an especially egregious offender, and the breakdown is roughly even between latex and mylar, in terms of what's washing up ashore.  Rather than prohibiting them outright, it is my hope that by clearly labeling some of the risks on the packaging, people will have the foresight to make better decisions surrounding balloons and their littering.

I like the idea of truth in packaging.

I always wondered what the agenda of an Earth Liberation Party Senator would look like. Wink Do you guys have a wiki page, or at least a designated color code. Your entry is messing up the Wiki Senate History Page because ELP didn't come up with anything. You are still ELP right (Census is out of date)?

I have no problem with this bill. It is a concern and putting warning labels lets people know at least the consequences of their actions.

I've just written up this page for the Earth Liberation Front.  Are all the good colors taken? Tongue

It has to be a shade of green. Tongue

I used darkgreen on my chart on the private forum for the elections when you voted. However, I don't know how similar it is to the NNP's color or even what shade of green that is on the wiki. If there isn't a wintergreen or evergreen color that is different enough from NNP's then use the JCP color code: bgcolor="#66CC00". It is distinct enough from TPP, IB, NNP and any other uses of green in current era.

Quite a common sense piece.

Incidentally, glad to have you in the Senate, Ebowed. Grin

This seems like a good idea to me. The potential costs to businesses are low, and the potential gains by the environment are high. What's not to like?

As it seems like everybody is more or less on board with this, I motion for a final vote.

This bill has enough votes to pass.
Senators have 24 hours to change or add their votes.

The bill passed the Senate, with 7 Senators voting in favor and 3 Senators not voting.
