One of the salient points that emerged from the debate, as Donald Trump lucidly explained, was that he has the judgement to be commander in chief. As he said about Iraq, "I called it."

And he also emphasized that when it comes to national security, "I think we need someone we can trust who is totally responsible, who knows what he or she is doing that is so powerful and so important."

Looking forward to the general election, this raises the question of how Trump's opposition to the Iraq war will play out. He was against it. Hillary Clinton was for it. And we all know how that turned out.

So, can Trump win the anti-war vote?

No, he says he wouldn't have gone into Iraq but it's pretty clear he wants to go to war now, and those far left anti-war nuts wouldn't want war even if Isis burned their children alive.

He could get more votes then Romney did if he goes back to his ant-war rhetoric since Clinton is a Hawk, but win? No.

Both candidates are pro-war.
The media has been loudly pounding the war drums.
The anti-war movement was thrown away when it funneled into Obama '08. It will not be a factor.

No, if what we're talking about is professional "anti-war" activists. Not even Paul could.

He could cut into it, yes, under certain conditions.  He could certainly gain the support of the RON Paul crowd if he tones down some of his anti-Constitutionalist ideas (e. g. registration lists for Muslims).  Ron Paul has uttered some fairly "out there" ideas over time, so his supporters won't be too shocked.

In what sense did he "call it"?  Is there some public statement that Trump made about the Iraq War from before the invasion that I'm unaware of?
