Just so long as they come to a decision on the taxes before people start filing.

What a surprise. Ryan = Status Quo.

The only "win" for the GOP base is big oil payola. That's not a win most of the GOP base will care enough about. Same with the bs tax loopholes. I could understand stripping all of the riders pushed by both sides as a compromise, but this is just graft. The win is that big oil gets to sell its oil over in not here, and all it cost was a lot of subsidies for green-tech Dem donors.

not an outwardly terrible deal, which makes me suspect something fishy.

It's called an election in November.

Does this extend authority until 9/30/2016? If so, that places a big fight right in the middle of the height of the general election.

Paul Ryan is aiming to be long termed Speaker again. Maybe at expense of a GOP president. Because deals like these, dont interfere with govt shutdown & repeal of ACA or Obamacare

There have been rumblings that the spending bill might not have the votes to pass.

Because Dumb McCain found out that Dick Shelby put a bunch of goodies in the bill, which then made Dumb Dick Shelby have to cover his ass, so now Dumb Dick Shelby is opposing the bill, and the Republican stack of dominos is falling.

The spending bill passes the House 316 to 113.

It wasn't even close.

The legislation apparently significantly increases the H-2b temporary unskilled visa program from 66,000 to around 200,000 per year, or more according to some reports.  This is very interesting in that the US has huge amounts of underemployed, marginally employed American citizens out there who in a perfect world would be helping to fill these jobs instead of the US importing more labor.

The budget act sets spending caps for each industry of govt. - i.e. the MAXIMUM amount that can potentially be spent. The omnibus sets the specific spending levels.

Just judging by who is against it? Not what is actually in the bill?

Apparently Congress also attached a cybersecurity bill to the omnibus legislation:
