Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan seem interesting (even if the political situation isn't great). Flat plains suddenly become the Himalayas, a weird confluence of east-central-south Asian influences under heavy Russian influence.

Estonia (only one I could theoretically see myself living in) and Russia (only to visit), I guess.

The Baltics are the least crazy. But Russia is bound to have the most interesting things.

Russia, but really only for St. Petersburg, and Armenia for it's varied history.

Russia (there are so many places and regions I really want to visit there)
Kyrgyzstan (I had a Kyrgyz-born Russian friend in Colombia and she showed me really incredible pictures of Kyrgyzstan)

I'll make a pitch for the Azeris:

Caucasus Mountains on the Azeri side.

Baku, capital of Azerbaijan.

Lithuania and Ukraine. If I could just visit St. Petersburg in Russia, I'd choose that over Ukraine.

Ooh! i forgot about Armenia. I'd take than over Lithuania for the history too.

Alternate answers for former territories of the USSR i'd like to visit: san Francisco and Boston . Grin

So I was in Russia, Latvia and Estonia so I guess I can't vote on them. Although I visited only small part of Russia probably I will be never able to visit its Asian part which I very want to see :I

Armenia for personal sympathies for Armenians and their history.
And Belarus - beautiful, very underrated country treated as some sh**thole of Europe while being very nice place.

The next picks would be probably some Central Asian states like Uzbekistan (Bukhara, Samarkanda) or Kyrgyzstan (for reason stated by other users).
