@ppppolls 30% of Republican primary voters nationally say they support bombing Agrabah. Agrabah is the country from Aladdin.

Would you support or oppose bombing Agrahbah?

Supporting bombing Agrahbah: 30%
Oppose bombing Agrahbah: 13%
Not sure: 57%

Fair enough. They cut off your ear if they don't like your face.

While this is hilarious - I love PPP's troll questions - it's honestly frightening that so many people have a kneejerk reaction to support bombing another country even when they have no knowledge or context of the situation

Do you think the Sultan is funding moderate rebels in Syria?

Folks have a reluctance to admit their ignorance. And unlike folks on this forum, most folks are shockingly clueless when it comes to geography. Heck, I saw some poll, that 60% or something of high school students in Dallas, did not know in which direction Mexico was.

The name in play here, sounds more like a terrorist group anyway, as opposed to a fictional place.

You'd think people would have watched Aladdin, though.

Wacthing Aladdin make people more likely to want to bomb, simply because it make the name sightly recognisable. I saw it as a child, but I couldn't remember that Agrabah was from Aladdin (I remembered it as Baghdad).

As for the poll, I'm not surprised, do anybody think the poll had been much different if the question had been "Should USA condemn the Agrabah occupation of Frigyzstan" and the people asked Democratic primary voters?

Or how about polling both Democrats and Republicans on their opinion of Barack Obama's foreign policy in regards to the Sultanate of Agrabah... Smiley

Don't forget about the huge amount of people who thought we fought against both the Soviets and the Germans in World War Two.

Why do you assume that they have no knowledge of context of the situation?  Maybe they watched Aladdin, and came to the conclusion that Jafar could only be stopped via a targeted bombing campaign?

Not surprised. I mean, the Affordable Care Act is considerably more popular with the public than Obamacare.

A few things could be said for Democratic "opposition " and "support" to bombing.

1st: how many of those 19% are Bushie Oklahoma style types who'll not vote for Hillary in November ? Probably most. How many of the 30% pro-bombing Republicans are likely to back Hillary ? essentially none.

Second, if i recognized Agrabah as the mythical Disney kingdom, saying "uh, no, i see no reason to bomb Aladdin , Jasmine, and Abu" as opposed to "not sure" is reasonable, not ignorant. Minus perhaps 1 or 2 joke respondants (and probably none) thinking "yeah! Napalm Jafar's ass", the yes respondants have no such defense.

Third and most damning, while there is an argument that if one is ignorant of the situation that "not sure" is the best respons--particularly given the genuine threats of ISIL, the Taliban , etc. which arguably warrant some form of non-pacifistic response--thinking "i don't know much about the situation with Agrabah, so no, i don't support the use of bombing until i learn more" is also reasonable indeed. Choosing no vs. Not sure due to ignorance about Agrabah is far FAR more reasonable than any yes respondant, who shamefully just heard a muslim/arabic sounding name and essentially knee-jerk responded  "yeah, DIE ALLAHPUKES!!"

Very sad. Sad

Part of being an American is bombing other countries.  Get used to it.
