*SKIP*

Michigan seems to be a nice place to live, as long as you're nowhere near the ghettos in Detroit.

Uh, hate to go BRTD here, but there are some decently nice areas only a few miles north of 8 Mile. Bloomfield Hills is just south of Pontiac! As well, actually in Detroit, the area is developing. Now, you can have concerns about gentrification, but that's not the topic here. I don't enjoy being the optimist, but it appears, at the very least, that Detroit is on a relative uptick, and I wouldn't mind living in the area a few years after graduation.

*SKIP*

not gto mention  (since ghetto is usually a euphamism for black neighborhoods), there are actually a couple white plurality neighborhoods within the  City. one just outside (NE?) of Hamatrack, and the ot6her in gthe far east by SE corner..

I'd love to live in my original birthstate, however, goodbye tax havens and cheap houses. Money and tax havens aside, I'd love to live in San Francisco. It's pretty much everything that I'd want out of a place to live, except the money, and the fact that my vote would likely render useless in any election (whereas Florida, you have a chance at swinging the vote.)

somewhat bemused, in point of fact, and not just a little exhausted.

Been a hell of a day.  We attended the Young Innovators Fair (9:30ish till 5:30ish).  It was a whirlwind excursion featuring robotics, brick-building, gravity machines, Star Wars action figures, LEGOs, hands-on science exhibits, and non-stop, fortissimo screeching from nerdy, eight- to twelve-year-old children running about with their helicopter parents in tow.  Lunch consisted of a very greasy Reuben with a dill pickle spear and some even greasier fried potato wedges.  Lots of black pepper and catsup.  (or was it ketchup?)  Washed it down with a bottle of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.  That's the sort of fare on offer at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.

Good to be back in exurbia with a nightcap and a chair under my ass.

According to your profile you live in Lancaster, PA. Pennsylvania wouldn't be too bad, but I'd want to live in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh then.

Maybe there would be less abandoned factories in your state. I wouldn't mind the weather really.

I wouldn't like being around Ohio St. fans who hate the SEC (a.k.a. the greatest conference on Earth).  Also a little cold for my liking (I don't like bundling up).  But, a fairly reasonable state with nice areas, and my vote would count a lot!

Well, I can't say I'd be happy. But I have a friend who's a student at Sewanee, and it looks like a beautiful place, even if I would feel like a cultural sore thumb. At the same time, I'm a city person at heart, so if I moved there, I think Chattanooga would be an okay fit overall.

Seattle or Tacoma would be great. The rural areas, not so much.

I think I'd like the Netherlands. Lots of people speak English, good soccer country (Cruyff!), socially liberal/libertarian laws, and it seems to look nice. Also not too far from Britain, Germany, Scandinavia. I bet I'd be an outlier economically, but that's true most places.

Probably one of my top states to live in. Atlanta, Savannah, and Augusta all seem like good places to be.

Love the Pacific Northwest. I'd be pretty jazzed, especially if I were on the coast.

If it's northern California, I'm fine with that. If it's southern California, I am significantly less fine.

Not happy because of cultural differences.  Excited for the weather, though!  I would love to catch a game at the Rose Bowl (I'm a college football nut), but I will have to wait for September for that!
