It would definitely depend on the state. I would prefer being Governor of California rather than Senator.

Political atmosphere might be worth considering too. 2011 - 2016 seems like a terrible time to be a Senator who wants to get things done.

You are right about that, I would rather be Governor currently as you can get more done rather then get stalemated legislatively.

How many of each have become president? I'll go with governor over I believe two senators to go directly from the senate to the white house.
Kennedy, Obama, and Harding, off the top of my head.

I went with Governor, as I think it fits my personality better.
