(Only results over 5% given)

Birth county:
Soda 63%
Coke 32%

Childhood county:
Coke 52%
Soda 32%
Other 9%

Current county:
Coke 67%
Soda 23%
Other 8%

Dad's birth county:
Pop 92%
Soda 6%

Mom's birth county:
Soda 83%
Coke 13%

Personally, I tend to use the generic "soft drink" with an occasional "soda" when I need to be brief.  I use "coke" only as a generic for any sort of cola, including Pepsi.

Soda - 268 EV (PV 40.89%)
Pop - 154 EV (PV 39.28%)
Coke - 116 EV (PV 14.57%)

It then gets thrown to the House, where Soda is awarded the Presidency.

They are called soft drinks. What is wrong with you people? There is no other name. Soda is that stuff you put with scotch whiskey, a Coke is a specific brew that used to have cocaine in it (that's a great business plan - put some drug in it that folks will crave, and by the time you have to remove it, you already have just fabulous brand recognition), pop is what children call it before they learn to call it a soft drink - soda pop actually.

Oddballs who call it "soda pop" or "soft drink", and (especially in less populated areas) annoying trolls.

I have a friend who uses "fizzy drink." I think someone else floated the possibility it might include non-English responses.

Another "other" is "tonic", although that's almost exclusive to the Boston area. It's also one of those phrases used only by olds and is quickly dying out.

The other in NC is mostly "drink"

Also, apparently WA is mostly "pop", but I've almost never heard anyone actually call it that.

You can see for yourself here.

For WA:

101   soda pop
26   soft drink
8   Pepsi
7   Cola
5   drink
3   Dew
3   beverage
3   Brand name
3   (long winded troll reply)

for OH:

93   soft drink
87   soda pop
12   pepsi
12   cola
9   [real name] is awesome drink
8   drink
7   carbonated drink
7   IT IS SODA. It has always been soda and only and idiot would call it POP. Go to LaRosa's, Penn Station Subs, Skyline Chili and see it called SODA on the menu board. SODA PEOPLE!

What is the percentage breakdown of preferred soft drink names in your county?

Didn't we already have a thread like this?  I must be mistaken.  Silly me.

Anyway, about 530 thousand people live in same county as I, but according to the link you posted only about 486 of them have names for soft drinks.  They name them as follows:

447 call it soda
16 call it coke
9 call it pop
14 call it "other"

In other news, trees give me wood.

Place of Birth/Avatar (Peoria, IL):

78% Soda, 13% Pop, 5% Coke, 5% Other ... We are the soda resistance in a sea of pop-sayers.

Current Residence (Johnson, IA):

77% Pop, 19% Soda, 1% Coke, 3% Other ... I get into a lot of arguments.
