What's the last presidential election in which every county in your state voted for the same candidate?

Can't really tell from the Atlas, but I'm guessing ours is 1820.

I dunno, it's possible that every county went Democratic in one of the "solid south" elections between 1876 and 1888

I don't have membership, but I can see the key that pretty much tells me that there were no counties voting Republican in 1932 or 1936.

So the last time Washington had every county vote the same was 1936 for FDR.

Not since at least 1920 (keys go back to 1924).

But 1972

was close.

1920. 1932 would've been had the socialist candidate not split the vote and allowed Hoover to win Lake County (rather ironic as it's one of the most econoimcally leftist counties in the state)

1928. Hoover really kicked ass in Oregon:

My county voted 75 percent for him.

1944 was the last time South Carolina was solidly Democratic.  (In 1936, every single county was 90% or more Democratic!)

1972 was the last time SC was solidly Republican, and that was despite (or perhaps because) the Democratic and United Citizen Parties running a fusion ticket for McGovern/Shriver)

Michigan has voted Republican in every election from 1860 up to 1928, with the exception of Teddy Roosevelt.  The party started here, so it pretty much follows, it had influence for quite some time.  Last time is was solid, probably 1998, All counties but Wayne voted for incumbent governor Republican John Engler over Dr. Kevorkian's lawyer Democrat Jeffrey Feiger.

Some of the pictures that you guys with full membership have posted don't show up for me.  I'm guessing they're blocked for non-members.

i am not a paying member of this site, so the county-level maps for Washington state only go so far back as 1960:

1964

1972 -with the same result in 1980

Forgot about 1936. But Landon would have carried 3 counties (Benton, Douglas, Josephine) if Lemke hadn't been on the ballot. 1928 was incredibly solid for Hoover. Smith broke 40 percent in only one county (Wallowa).

And the last solid GOP election was in 1924:

2000- All counties in Connecticut went for Gore.

In 2004, Litchfield County went for Bush, while the others went for Kerry.  At least there's one small section of sanity in this state.

1972

All GOP but Philadelphia

and that's the closest we've gotten as far back as the Atlas goes.

Can't see the map now, but did Coolidge really take Manhattan? (I knew he took the Bronx...)

Yes. He carried New York County 41.2 percent to 39.5 percent for Davis, with LaFollette polling 18.7 percent.

My Republican friends state there is some argument as to where their party originated, with the predominant opinion being Ripon, Wisconsin.
