I remember hearing in the 1970s the opinion that Henry Kissinger could surely have been President if he were eligible.

I'm curious about what other people in U.S. history y'all think could have been strong presidential candidates if only they were eligible.

He could have run either in 1980 or be Nixon's succssor in 1974 instead of Ford.
