I hope he's out and endorses TRUMP.

It looks like the only true outsider that will survive is Trump. Fiorina is at 1% and Carson is dropping like a rock

Don't feel bad for Ben Carson, this has been great for his true objective...selling more Ben Carson crap to gullible people.

That's not all his campaign was about. His speaking fees will doubtless be going up, too. And his fundraisers doubtless made bank as well.

They also built up a huge database which can be milked for decades and also rented out. The whole thing has been a massive money-making scam both for Carson and for a bunch of consultants and of course the campaign manager, and now it is coming to an end as the money is drying up. Time to cash out and move on.

If Carson's campaign falls apart completely, it's a pretty big story. He still has about 10% support, both nationally and in Iowa. Presumably the remaining Carson diehards are evangelicals skeptical of Cruz or some such combination.

That means they're not gonna switch to Cruz. But to whom?

Cain dropped out still above 10 percent. Everyone knows which direction this ship is going. I doubt Carson will get anyone to come on as a replacement.

He should drop out now.  He'll wield more power as a courted endorser in Iowa than just stumbling to a 4th place finish.

I don't think that's accurate.  It's early enough in the race that it seems possible they haven't heard enough of Cruz yet.  They know Carson because of his prior presence in Evangelical culture.

This is not a good sign of how his Administration would conduct itself.

If Carson dropped out tomorrow...I could see his 10% support dividing something like 5 Cruz, 2 Trump, 3 Rest of Field. They have to be a pretty skeptical bunch and aren't going to be big fans of the mainstream candidates. It'd be really good for Team Chaos in general and Cruz in particular.

It'd also mean that a flat-out Cruz landslide in Iowa was a serious possibility. Something like a Cruz 38, Trump 23 finish or so.

The new chairman of the campaign has made some colorful comments in the past:

This was probably the plan all along, wind down the campaign for a gentle drop out before Iowa and onto a book selling tour.

Huckabee, Santorum, and Paul are probably all licking their chops, but Cruz is the one who stands to benefit the most.
