We have no idea where my paternal Grandfather's father came from, just kind of showed up in Tennessee in the 1830s.  My paternal Grandfather's mother's parents came from Worms/Darmstadt around that time.  My maternal grandpa's dad was born in England.  I don't remember any other details off the top of my head.

Based on my most recent immigrant ancestor, I'd be 5th generation. By my earliest, I'd be >11th generation.

I am third generation on my mother's side. I'm not sure about my father's side, but I think it's somewhere around fourth or fifth generation.

My dad's family has been in North America since the early 18th century.  My mom is a guess...i could be as new as 3rd or as old as 6th on that side. I only know her biological parents werent immigrants.

Five generations if you count my father's paternal ancestors who arrived in the United States from Sweden in the midst of the American Civil War (1863), and settled in Minnesota.

As for my mother, she was born in Japan, so....

mother's  side:  first
father's mother's side: second
father's father's  side: fifth
my father was born in Germany, but he's  a natural-born citizen so I'm  counting him anyways

Depends on whether you include my ancestors who escaped to Canada after being on the losing side in the American Tax Revolt of 1775-1783.

Mom's mom's side: 4th generation (Volga German)
Mom's dad's side: 3rd generation (French Basque)
Dad's mom's side: ? (German)
Dad's dad's side: 10th generation (English)

Once you get 10 generations back, it's over 1,000 ancestors you're talking about, so "English" is definitely an over-simplification.

3rd generation across the board.

My great-grandparents all came from Italy between 1915-1925.

Getting close to our 100 year anniversary in the US I suppose.

The Ellis Island documentation lists my great, great grandparents and all their children, so I guess that makes me 3rd. Almost certainly the same on the other side of the family.

The most recent arrival was my paternal grandmother's father, who immigrated to Brooklyn from Montreal around 1870. The rest go back to the 1600's or 1700's.
