I guess it depends on who the GOP nominee is. You could say yes due to some antiquated racial views among laboring class whites, but you could also make an argument that these folks are uncomfortable with voting for a female.

However, the latter argument falls apart when you look at how well someone like Joni Ernst did with that group.

This matters in places like Green Bay, Pittsburgh, etc.

I think they're more comfortable with voting for a white woman than a black man whose middle name is Hussein.

Depends on who the nominee is, but probably because Obama is a Black, you see.

She'll do slightly better in the South, worse everywhere else.

This seems likely, maybe very slightly worse depending on the Republican candidate, but she'll do better with white men overall because the split between more-educated and less-educated white voters will continue to grow.

Probably worse, but she will probably match Obama with college white men and beat Obama with all white women, so in the end she will likelly net more votes from whites. At worst she will match Obama with all whites, which means the GOP will have to rely on improvements with non-whites to win. Good luck with that.

No, Worse dude to the polarization caused by Pres. Obama's Policies and divisive nature of American society caused by his presidency. Whites will vote overwhelmingly Republican. FYI to the people saying Hillary Clinton will do better in the south, please stop. She will NOT. Just because her husband was a moderate in a different era of blue dogs and socially conservative populists, doesn't mean Sec. Clinton, a noted liberal and flip flopper with a severe image problem, will do better in the south than Pres. Obama, who inspired black turnout. She will do worse if anything. Blue dogs are severe minority now, and even then most vote Republican or have become Republican, parts of my family included. There is no possible way that sec. Clinton will inspire a shift in the south or have hope of winning ANY state in the deep south, including Arkansas.

No.  But she can do better with white women, even the working class types.

As much as I'd love to ramble about voting trends as I usually do, I think people should stop and think about whether considering Obama's last performance with white voters as the new average of Democratic white support is correct or not. Mondale, McGovern all got super low percentages of the white vote, and their successors heavily improved on that.

Just because Obama did really bad one cycle doesn't necessarily mean that those percentages are the new ceiling for Democratic white support.

Blue Collar White Men: Worse, particularly with Trump.
Educated White Men: About the same as Obama against Rubio, better than Obama against Trump and Cruz.
White Women: Significantly better against pretty much any candidate.
Hispanics: About the same, the GOP isn't doing themselves any favors.
African Americans: Somewhat worse.

Nope. All you have to do is look at her poll numbers to see she's wildly unpopular with white males. Like 25-75 levels of horrible. Those numbers won't budge.

She will do probably the same, most likely an edge or so less.

Blue collar white males do not like Hillary Clinton. She's one, not a male, and two, doesn't have the charismatic relatable edge Barack has. She will most likely under-peform there.

Exactly. I can definitely see northern blue collar whites swinging hard against Clinton. In the south they already voted for Mccain and Romney because, uh, reasons.

Whatever the swing, it will be stronger among rural blue collar whites, than urban ones. That apparently is true right here in Columbia County, which is disturbing. Heck, our now ex Mayor of Hudson, now that he is defeated, has on his Facebook page now, expressions of his love for Trump. He was and is a blue collar guy, albeit Pub. The white gentry just dumped him en mass with their little block voting. He was viewed as incompetent. We tend to like literate folks with smarts, with good work habits, not time servers handing out patronage, and reading haltingly as he struggles with the words in speeches written by others.

That swing has mostly occurred in rural areas, though someone like Trump could squeeze out some more. Blue collar whites in places like Cleveland, Bucks County PA, Pittsburgh, Erie etc. are what should concern Dems. Obama actually did pretty well in many of these areas.
