Truly tragic, but honestly it could have gone much worse. Just goes to show that there's no such thing as a "peaceful protest" where everyone come armed to the teeth. The whole point of civil disobedience is that you have to be prepared to face the consequences of breaking the law at the end of the day. Apparently at least one of these guys felt that he'd rather start a gun battle with the police.

I didn't want them to die, but, eh, police has to apply the law. Police tried to do their job and tried to arrest them, they got shot at, so they had to defend themselves.

Not at all, I have no problem with what the full power of the state did today.  Handled it pretty damn well if you ask me.  Certainly better than some previous examples.

I still say they should have shown up with a SWAT team as soon as this started and dealt with them right then and there. Now it's a really funny sight seeing conservatives saying, "hands up don't shoot," but it's also very interesting that they put Darren Wilson on such a huge pedestal and had no problem with horrific police shootings when it was a black child being killed.

Just wanted to let you guys know we're marking the anniversary.  Anyone saying law enforcement in this country isn't racist is on crack.

Wrong.  They should have stormed in there on day one and lit them all up.  You show up at a government facility with guns you get lit up.  No other civilized country tolerates this behavior.  This racist double standard has to end.

I think the police definitely handled the situation correctly by not raiding the compound.

But the people defending them as nonviolent protesters just practicing the right to civil disobedience were just as terrible as the people calling for a slaughter by the police. "How can you call them terrorists?! They haven't damaged anything yet!" Well, it may not have been a majority of the group, but it looks like around 1 in 5 of these guys was just itching for an excuse to open fire on some federal agents.
