Apart from the fact that "subaltern" is one of my least favorite words in the English language, FCS. However, there is some irony in saying gentrification since coffee shops are pretty much the symbol of gentrification in much of America.

Unironic use of the term "Neoliberalism" = HCS.

Absolutely despicable. The population should show them the power of capitalism and shut it down.

A coffee shop that advertises that? Laughably horrible.

Spotted in a gentrified neighborhood most likely.

Never been there, but judging by the sign horrible.

My favorite coffeeshop has always been Freeworld Coffeeshop, on Nieuwendijk, just off the Damrak in Amsterdam.  Spent many foggy evenings there, although I've never actually tried their coffee.

I personally, would be fine with it as long as they have good food/drink, although I don't drink coffee.

A "coffee shop" that doesn't sell weed? Lame.

Depends, is it a coop? Because otherwise it's hilariously hypocritical.

where do they get the coffee from to not engage in the sort of colonialist exploitation that coincides with coffee production?  Serious question, as I'm not some kind of reactionary who thinks it's worth mocking attempts to be inclusive.  It's just a very good bet that whoever grows their coffee beans can't afford to drink it themselves.

I struggle to think of any place in the world where this coffee shop could be located that has no association with imperialism. If the United States, the only reason the White Man with all his supremacism was even there in the first place was because of mercantilist economics and rivalry between imperial powers. This "ideology" will be the death of nations.

Joke business. I look forward to them denying service to police officers and winding up being taken down in a retaliatory drug raid.

I'm going to vote FCS.

I typed in the website to find out about them. They send their profits to support artists and activists who illuminate systems of oppression and human rights. Too often groups look to government grants, so I applaud groups that generate private funding instead.

They also claim they donate money to "research on oppressive structures". I'm actually very much for paying third-world farmers fair wages, but not so much for paying hard-leftist academics for whinging about intersectionality and Iggy Azalea. I'll go to Starbucks instead.

That's the beauty of it. You don't have to patronize them, and indirectly support their causes.

Very cleverly done sign, particularly the aspect where the words get smaller. It made me laugh. I would definitely be a patron!

Although something tells me that someone will do it during another riot which the shop's owner would probably support.
