I'm going to out on a limb public opinion-wise and say he was somewhat overrated, but even then a definite FF. He damn near invented, or at least defined,  glam rock
That would be a major blow AGAINST him.

On further consideration I voted FF on the strength of CrabCake's last point in her post.

Neutral.  I'm not a huge fan of his music.

I wish he wasn't a flip-flopper when it came to his sexual orientation, though.

FF, I guess.  He wasn't my favorite.

David Bowie died recently?!  I guess many things may have happened that I didn't learn about.  Been out of pocket a bit.  Haven't watched TV in over a week, very busy and have had fairly sketchy internet connectivity during that time as well.

Voted FF, and glad to have done it before reading the OP, which suggests that he might be dead.  He always looked stoned to me, and back in the days when I was into David Bowie, that made him cool.  So my instinct was to go with FF.  He's also a bit of a weirdo, which makes him FF.

Okay, now I have looked it up:  apparently he died about a week ago.  Guess I should say FFF.

A legend. He wrote so much brilliant music. Sad that he's gone.

I appreciated as much his music than I couldn't stand his 'characters', which would tell a lot.

Hearing back all his songs everywhere when he died, it was just like:

Gosh, the softness and pleasantness of 1960s-70s music, is far, far, far...

Dunno what he did as a man, but he brought some beauty to the ears.
