I'm basically your generic liberal Democrat, but with an independent streak on certain issues. Pro-choice, pro-government, pro-Union, anti-trade, pro-gun control and above all, I hate conservatism and Republicans. I strongly support tougher accountability laws on police and their treatment of people, and if elected to Congress, I'd introduce a bill to allow the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, the CIA, and the Department of Justice to collaborate with the Southern Poverty Law Center to shut down right-wing hate/terrorist groups and anti-government militias and arrest their members before they can commit more acts of terror.
The biggest problem would be getting rid of some skeletons in my closet. How do they always manage to do that?

You're wise beyond your years and not a prime example, but as a (late) 1991er, I've learned that someone can be incredibly knowledgeable, intelligent, well-informed, whatever and still just lack the basic maturity (and by extension courtesy) that you gain from meeting other people with varying views and realizing that they're just regular dudes, by and large. Like I said, depends on the person, but I've found the two years I've been out of college to be very eye-opening in this regard.
To "hate Republicans" (or "hate Democrats") shows a disturbing lack of maturity in my eyes. Wolverine is probably closer to most college-aged people's political attitudes than yours, unfortunately. :/
I never would have guessed you were that young. My views and attitudes were shaped from the past six years. I began watching politics as closely as I do now at the beginning of the 2010 election, and I still can't get over the TV ads run by the Republican Party and its SuperPACs saying that Democrats hate America, calling President Obama a Muslim, and putting up billboards on the freeway that said "Save America, vote Republican!"
I'm one of two Democrats in my family, and the other, my grandfather's cousin, was a Congressman from New York for 14 terms. If and when I go to Washington, I'll fight the Republicans. I revile their ideology, their agenda, and their mean-spirited way of turning every part of governing ugly. Maybe not the individual people (except for Carly Fiorina, Newt Gingrich, and Paul Ryan) but you can count on me hardly ever crossing the aisle. That's the message I'd want sent to my constituents.
All I can say about my own college experience is that I'm actually pretty far to the right of my peers. While most of the college liberals I knew are smoking pot, dropping acid, rambling on and on about how much they hate Hillary, and practicing "New Age spirituality" hippie bulls**it, I was out knocking on doors, blowing through phone lists, and campaigning for local Democratic candidates with the college Democrats. Our get-out-the-vote operation on campus turned an average of 50 students voting into 400, and we came 68 votes shy of tipping the state Senate election in our favor.
While I'll freely admit I've said some things I shouldn't have, (and I don't mean to sound conceited here) I'm a lot more intelligent and a lot wiser than most people my age. I'm just working on being more articulate. But if you got to know me in person, I'm not a bad guy.
