PM of Australia for more than a decade. Introduced new strict immigration laws, tight gun control, the Goods and Services Tax and joined in interventions in Timor, Afghanistan and Iraq

His gun laws are unforgivable, and in fact he's never repented. HP.

His gun laws utterly ruined what would otherwise have been a pretty decent time at the helm.

Definately FF. John Howard was arguably Australia's best PM and I'd say he was the best leader of an Anglosphere country in my lifetime.

What is with the Anglosphere having terrible leaders between the 80s and the 2010s?

Bill Clinton was a successful leader, albeit a terrible person.

If you weren't on welfare, Clinton was a successful leader.

Reagan, Thatcher were good leaders.

Howard seems a capable conservative leader and it's Australia. We're calling him HP for gun control? We're the most conservative Western democracy in the world. Why do we judge other nations by our standards? Australia has universal healthcare; do we mock Howard for not getting rid of that?

I don't agree with his gun control policy myself but that's the thing, you can't judge other nations by American standards. So still FF for me
