I'm a little less sure than when I immediately first watched it, but I think Trump finally has someone who is not a total political retard facing him.

Cruz, but I could understand people saying Trump won, since the birther nonsense hasn't really been debunked and people are thinking about it again, which is bad news for Cruz.

I think Trump did. The fact that I don't like Cruz colors it, but I also think its that Trump was in the right. I don't think the founders would have considered Cruz a Natural-Born Citizen eligible for the presidency.

They actually did, at first they considered everyone who was the child of a citizen to be a natural born citizen

Remember, Kasich unironically won a debate winner poll here one time.

That was probably before he went completely wacky-wavy-inflatable-flailing-arm-tube-man.

85% of Republicans honestly don't care about the issue lol.

Not the point at all; literally no one else in this entire universe believe that Kasich has won a single debate. The opinions of posters here on Republican debates are worth about as much as a shovel at the bottom of Etna.

The problem is that it's the people who could vote for both Cruz and Trump that do care

Trump had some solid jabs, but Cruz accomplished exactly what he needed to do (defuse both the loan and birther issues). All in all, I'll say Cruz.

And it wasn't even close, even without the most audience booing that Trump has ever seen.

Trump but I don't think Cruz did that badly and got some good jabs in himself but not enough to fully eliminate the issue from the campaign trail.

The issue won't go away, in fact, by making such a big deal about it, even more GOP voters are going to start questioning it and having doubts.

Then again, this forum thought that Kasich won a debate and that Fiorina was going to be a strong contender for the nomination, so this result here is understandable.

Bingo.  Trump has handled this masterfully.  Give legitimacy to something insane simply by giving it airtime.  I have to give the man an A+ for how he's run this campaign in general.  There is no reason on earth this man should be the leading candidate two weeks before the primaries start, except for media management.

Cruz got a tactical victory, but Trump still wins strategically.
