I'm not going to bother listing the meanings of all of them; you can look that up.

First (normal).

Would have voted for the 13th, but it's kind of sad we even needed it.

The Fourteenth, by far.

The 13th, 19th and 24th were obviously more important in terms of righting a glaring and intolerable historic wrong, but the Fourteenth is the only one that affirms and enforces a constitutional principle of universal value that goes beyond bland Enlightenment/bourgeois liberalism.

bland Enlightenment/bourgeois liberalism is different from the Court's general interpretation of the 14th amendment how?

If there is a reason that the second amendment is the second, there is likewise a reason that the first amendment is the first.

At the very least it's quite different from their post-1957 interpretation of it. I don't think Locke would find "separate but equal" policies particularly objectionable, let alone think the State should take an active role in ensuring equal opportunities.

I am confused why so many people are voting 2nd. The first is the most important and the most durable Amendment through the ages. I don't see the second as being anywhere near as necessary as the first. Maybe I'm just overreacting, but I am just a 1st Amendment fanboy so I just was a bit confused with the results.

Didn't the First Amendment give the US Citizens United?
