I do hate it when my roommate smokes up with friends of ours and the stench will stay in the apartment for days, yes. Though cigarettes are much, much worse.

I've also been with people who are smoking pot too and that will get me to leave. Smoken things prevent a person from being present but not partaking. I passionately despise pot.

Why -- because it smells gross, or because of contact high?

Both. I tend to get away from smokers of all types but the contact high part makes marijuana extra horrible to be around.

Europeans are far more likely to smoke cigarettes than Americans.

Just marijuana. This year should have pot legal so I'm excited about that!  Smiley

My coffee consumption has come to the point where it's too expensive, so now I pop caffeine pills! I consider that a lot worse than the couple times I've been given pot.

The former is fair, but outside of unrealistic situations with no (or virtually no) ventilation, contact high is effectively a myth.

Or you know, because of the health dangers from being in a room with smoke?

His language ("passionately despise pot" but moreso his description of secondhand smoke as "partaking") was kind of a red flag for me that he didn't just mean avoiding smoke -- like I said, "contact high" is probably, in almost every real-world case, a totally psychological phenomenon.  But not wanting to inhale smoke is a totally reasonable concern.  It seems ridiculously rude to me to smoke marijuana around people who aren't down with it, although vaporizing is a more ambiguous case, since it's obviously less irritating and safer (although it's still reasonable to avoid if you want to be risk-adverse -- there's apparently some high ammonia content released by some vaporizers.)

Not a pot guy.  Just being an obnoxious science jerk here.

Mind-altering drug use doesn't appeal to me. It just seems so pointless. Also, I feel uncomfortable near intoxicated people because I can't predict their behaviour.

Some info on my personal "drug" consumption or lack thereof (It can be argued whether some of these things qualify as drugs.):

I have never taken any drugs that are illegal in my country (i.e. Germany).

I have never consumed tobacco, not even a single puff on a cigarette.

I drink alcohol rarely (i.e. a few times a year) and in small quantities. I have never been drunk.

I rarely consume drinks containing caffeine (mostly cola).

I take medicine if it's necessary to diagnose/cure/treat/prevent an illness/disease. However, I wonder whether it is really necessary in some cases because I know that the pharmaceutical industry has a financial interest in selling drugs.

If 'soft' drugs here literally just means pot, then the usage rate on this forum is only a tiny bit over the national average (as per a Gallup poll last year). I honestly thought it would have been lower here.

Considering this is the Internet, I'd expect it to be higher.

Then why would it matter to you if it is legal or not?

Jesus, It doesn't matter what I say I get attacked. It should be legal for everyone obviously instead of getting incarcerated.

Oh seriously, these semantics games? We all know he wasn't talking about either medical stuff or alcohol (though the argument "alcohol =/= drugs because it's good" is hilarious)

The admin of AAD is a great guy, but he had (has?) a very deranged view that marijuana isn't a drug; and to call it a drug is in fact a smear by anti-marijuana propogandists

I must have been last night since the poll says I am addicted to prescription drugs and I don't remember clicking anything that said that.

Look I shouldn't even be talking to you about this but how dare you. I used to have severe depression to the point where i never wanted to leave my bed and other things that I'm not comfortable talking about with you. Medication and this helped me with it so don't personally attack me because of it.
