He lost his best chance when he couldn't get to the debate.

Much better debate than the official ones by far.

FF, but then why doesn't he have the balls to say he won't support Trump if he is the nominee. Obviously he wouldn't be out campaigning for him, but if Trump is as bad as he says he is, which he is, then he should have the balls to say no I do not support him. Why not back Gary Johnson?

Because he has no balls. He's cut them off to run for President.

Ironic, given the number of former Paul supporters that make up Trump's base.

And there goes the last bit of respect I had for Rand Paul. During his last debate appearance, it seemed that he was returning to his roots but it's now apparent that his metamorphosis into an establishment operative is complete.

There are problems within the party that occur for him, his staff, and his supporters if he endorses another party's candidate for president.  Not to say that he won't do it, but those of us who have very serious problems with a Trump nomination are feeling our way through these issues.

Paul is just desperate for attention. He knows no one cares about him or his failure of a campaign, so he's trying to grab on to TRUMP's big, beautiful coattails.

A foolish move for Paul.  If he's going to drop out of the race, he should do so honestly and concentrate on his re-election to the Senate.

I don't agree that a Trump nomination ensures a crushing defeat for the GOP.  It may well produce a map-expanding victory.  Trump's that much of a wild card, and that works both ways.  But if he is the new Goldwater '64, Paul would be wiser to say nothing and let events play out.  He could always fall back on statements to the effect that he will vote for the GOP nominee, but campaign only for himself.  As I have trouble imagining Trump (if nominated) losing Kentucky, I don't see where Paul is at risk here at all.

I certainly view Rand Paul's reelection to the Senate as important.  Rand Paul is not the maverick Ron Paul is, but he's still a good deal more anti-war and measured than many of the GOP contenders.  I wonder, though, if Paul realizes that Trump's views on war are much closer to his views than many of the Establishment candidates' views.

I wish he would start focusing on libertarian voters instead of Donald Trump.
