I know I have mentioned Sarah Palin largely as a joke, but the more I have read about the relationship between her and Donald Trump, the less unlikely the prospect of a Trump/Palin ticket appears, especially considering the two are both political outsiders, have expressed mutual admiration for each other, and Trump has said he would be delighted to have Palin in his cabinet.  Is it such a great leap from there to being his Vice-President?

I think Trump once said that he was planning on making Palin his Energy Secretary if he wins. That's not to say she's definitely not on his VP shortlist, though.

Plain would be the second person to run for VP under two different candidates, after Charles Fairbanks (1904 under TR and 1916 under Charles Evans Hughes)

So does this mean we get eleven years of Chief Justice TRUMP?

You forgot Adlai E. Stevenson (1892 under Grover Cleveland and 1900 under William Jennings Bryan).

He joked at an NH event about Scott Brown being a VP candidate.

Palin is a random name to throw out there as his VP especially with no possibility of it but it does make for a good field day amongst the far left.  He'll pick Mark Cuban.

Seriously, She wasn't even a 1st choice VP candidate in 2008 and was chosen so late too.

The problem is that she's already a losing VP candidate. Doesn't Trump want to avoid being seen as a loser?

It would be a populist GOP ticket, but they would lose in a landslide. Palin adds baggage to Trump.

The defeat would be so massive that it might cause Republicans to completely reinvent themselves.

Trump and Palin lost because they weren't conservative enough. Duh.

Seriously, if their response to McCain and Romney's losses is to nominate Trump, why do you think they would suddenly move towards the center if Trump loses? If it were Cruz I might understand, since there's not much room to his right, but Trump is routinely called left-wing by Republicans.

If there actually were another move to the right, I think it would lead to a formal party split.

More realistically, I could see him picking Paul LePage.

I can imagine that, but I think most people would stick with the original party even if it continued to drift rightward. Eventually, though, it would destroy itself due to not winning any elections ever, and it would be forced to either move left or be replaced by a more moderate party. Anyways, it would ensure years if not decades of complete liberal dominance

The whole idea makes me more than a little sick to my stomach Sad

I wonder if Palin on the ticket could possibly put Alaska in play. I hear she isn't very popular up there at all.

If the Dems nominate Sanders, absolutely. I think of Alaska and Montana as more pure outsider/anti-establishment than safe Republican.
