Ok do people really think he's dropping out or that the announcement won't be at least somewhat "yuge?"

I have a feeling it's going to be at least a mildly significant endorsement

Good news!  Palin-endorsed candidates have a fantastic track record.

Oh God...

Will this put Trump in the lead in Iowa? This close to the caucuses, a lead could end up being decisive.

If anything, I'd imagine Palin would bring him down.

Honestly, I bought Trump shares in Iowa due to this plus Branstad criticizing Cruz's birth. I don't think I'll hold them to the conclusion because their is uncertainty about Trump's organization there, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he pulled it out as an underdog due to an increasingly fractured field with Cruz voters leaving for nobodies.

In a Republican primary where Trump's closest opponent is a guy who needs the support of as many Tea Partiers and evangelicals as possible, I would not bet against Sarah Palin's candidate. If this is indeed what is about to go down.

That moment when everyone on Atlas plays right into his hands by talking about him and Trump gets the better of all of us

In a cycle dominated by outsiders and far-right conservatives, I'm somehow doubtful.

He ain't going after the Atlas vote. We'll see how the media plays this, though.

Did you just break this story? None of the mainstream news outlets are covering this.

It's seeping into mainstream coverage as we speak.

Congrats, Lief. If you keep this up, you can be mid-1990's Matt Drudge!

This is amazing news! Palin is the one ingredient that's been sorely missing from this election cycle. We're about to lose a bunch of these cooky characters in 2 weeks, but the addition of Sarah Palin hitting the campaign trail to stump for Trump will more than make up for the departure of Ben Carson and friends from the race.

Poor Republican establishment. They had just begun to embrace the inevitability of nominating Trump. Now they'll have the grim spectre of a Trump-Palin ticket hanging over their heads. Fun times.

That flight doesn't land until 8:00 PM local time. What time is the rally? Everything would have to be in place beforehand I'd imagine.

Although her poll numbers declined significantly after 2012 (media over-exposure, maybe?) PPP found Palin at 68%-18% among Iowa Republicans in 2014.  If those numbers have held, the only Republican with comparable favorables in Iowa today is Ted Cruz, who was up 66%-16% last poll (Trump was 50%-35%).

That would mean this is good for Trump, and it also gives him a favorable media cycle (more or less).  Seems like a win to me.

My prediction: "Ladies and gentlemen... we are now just two weeks from the Iowa caucuses. I only feel that it is the right time to let you all know... this has all been one big ruse. I was looking to sell some more books, and decided that a high-profile and controversial run for the highest office in the land would achieve this. I was completely unaware of how much this contrived message would resonate with voters, and I attempted to end the charade by saying increasingly ridiculous and outlandish things. It is clear to me now that the Republican electorate is completely unable or unwilling to call out bigotry and prejudice when they see it, and for this reason, I announce today that I am suspending my campaign for President and am proud to endorse Bernie Sanders in his quest to revolutionize American politics. Are you all ready to feel the Bern?! Goodnight, America!"

If this fanfiction turned out to be true, then congrats Hillary.

Make no mistake, folks: if this Palin endorsement does happen (and it of course has not been confirmed yet, but all my sources seem confident) it's a YUGE rebuke of Cruz by Palin. She endorsed him in his competitive 2012 primary, where he started out a longshot tea party challenger.

Perhaps it could be a double announcement.

1. Jeb Bush is dropping out.

2. Jeb Bush is endorsing Donald Trump for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
