So it doesn't look especially likely that Sanders will win the Democratic nomination. Assuming he loses to Clinton, who, if anyone, will be the left-of-center candidate the next time there's a competitive Democratic nomination, and how well will they do?

I could see my creep of a governor trying to pull it off, but I think he's too blatantly power hungry to win over the Sanders crowd.

Why do you think this?

What OC said, basically, combined with the fact that he's not even ahead in Iowa. I used to think it was virtually impossible for him to win. Now I think it's unlikely.
