Conservative-leaning libertarian.

Are you sure you're not Josh22?

No, but we've been to the same leadership conferences. Wink

I dunno how I'd define myself ideologically.  Someone else do it for me.

In general, a classical liberal. However, I do not subscribe to the view that rights are "natural" and predate society.

Just curious, but what sort of politician of the past would you also consider a "classic liberal"?  I wouldn't have thought you'd classify yourself as a classic liberal, but then again you're tough to classify in the first place.  I have a hard time thinking of Goldwater as a classic liberal... Present-day libertarians are rather similar to classical liberals. In retrospect, I would call myself a libertarian.

I would consider Thomas Jefferson to be a classical liberal.

Old-style Democrat, maybe?  That's why I think you belong with the Freedom Party, which is in a lot of ways a pre-McGovern Democratic Party.

I would describe myself as either a classical liberal or a conservative-leaning libertarian.

Libertarian-leaning moderate liberal.  Generally the left end of the DLC being socially liberal and economically center-left.  Agreed with many of Clinton's ideas except he should have been more cautious on trade.

It's really a shame there aren't many of us in Northeast Philadelphia.  Seriously, the Dems here are generally rah-rah union/anti-trade 24/7 yet are generally more socially conservative than me.  I know some people my age with this ideology and more in Center City and the suburbs, but generally, most people around me are much older and hover around populism.

Well, honestly I can't blame them one bit for economic leftism.  However their social conservatism is repulsive.

It's age and old-school Catholicism.  Trust me the few times I actually go to Mass, hardly anyone under 50 shows up and half the pews are empty.  Even South Boston is this way.  You know who we voted for and Phil can cry all he wants! Smiley
