High energy: Hardcore pop punk, or "easycore"
Low energy: Eh, probably classical. (Well most of it. This is definitely a high energy composition.)

Also this is a good case to be made as to how hardcore is not metal. Metal is generally low-energy music, while hardcore is so high-energy some bands are unable to play for more than 20 minutes for reasons of physical endurance.

Oh my heavens, please don't appropriate the word high-energy into "whatever I agree with" just like you did with liberal.

High energy: Screamo. THis is why "high energy" is not always a good thing.
Low energy: Slow jazz, i.e. "In a Sentimental Mood." This is why low energy is sometimes a good thing.

Ha, screamo was what I was thinking of for the bands that are so high energy they can't play for more than 20 minutes. Example.

That's not what I'm doing. For example I wouldn't call all post-rock high energy.

But for easycore...how the f[inks] is this or this not a high energy performance for example?

Somebody here does not know much about classical music methinks. Yes, much of Mozart is low energy to me. But some of the repertoire I find incredibly emotionally moving, and yes, exciting and high energy. Christopher Rouse's work comes to mind. Benjamin Britten's War Requiem is another. I heard a performance of the piece about 30 years ago, and still remember vividly the orchestra veritably screeching in agony as it musically evoked the agonizing death of a soldier on one of the killing fields of WW I.

While I agree that Hardcore and Screamo would be some of the most "high energy" forms of music, I still find it odd to see Metal, outside of Doom Metal and similar subgenres, described as "low energy".

Exactly. Metal is not low energy.

I also get a lot of energy from high-energy Mizrahi music, like this! (Though many of my friends say this is "the definition of IsraHell"... Sad)

Particularly amusing given that he's listed as 'low energy' one of the forms of music that is most physically demanding to perform...

The only examples that really makes sense with this metaphor is shoegazing being replaced by relatively high energy Britpop

(Or perhaps the increasingly low energy music scene of the 70's, with subpar prog rock etc. being supplnated by punk.
