Lets say the US decides to get congress together to approve the 51st 'state' for people looking for freedom, could it function as an Anarchist one? Each 'normal' state has a wall around the Anarchist state to keep the riff-raff out. Secondly, there wouldn't be a government, police, fire department, city government.

The only thing to keep the 'state' together is through private small business and corporations fending off the violence of Anarchist violence.

you could not legally do this under the Constitution as currently written, if that is what you are asking.

I figured that much. We could make an exception to the constitution, where the Anarchist state could be an area for all the criminals, convicts and derelicts in the country to live. They can do whatever they want, but not leave the area.

Maybe we could jerry-rig the entire place with cameras too, and airlift a giant monkey into the state so that they are constantly doing battle with it. For our amusement.

Couldn't we accomplish the same thing by having a The Purge once every year?

How can private business or corporations exist in an anarchist state?

By "anarchic" would that mean that the US does not offer it military defense even in the case of invasion by a foreign power? If yes, then why would it even be considered a state in the first place and not just terra nullis?

You realize you're essentially describing "Escape from New York," right?

In all seriousness, while this would be cool, I don't think it's feasible.

They would have their own thug like body guards, security and pitbulls. Basically an Anarcho-capitalist society against the Anarcho-socalists.

Anarcho-capitalism isn't a thing, stop thinking it is.

Damn it, you're right. Kurt Russell isn't available to do high risk rescue missions. We'll just have to find another way to make this work!

Using the doctrine from the Insular Cases, it would be constitutionally possible to establish an an unincorporated territory as an anarchist area. Can't think of any reason it would be done, but it would be doable.

Eh. We just can't let hijackers crash Air Force One inside the state's borders. It should be fine.

I'd be fine with it. It would be natural selection in action.

Why do we need a 51st state for "freedom" when all 50 states already have freedom?

Because they are not a free state. They have laws.

This raises a very deep question: must you have lawlessness in order to have true freedom? Or can you be free while still having some authority?

You're not free when you constantly have to worry about the basics of life. Imagine how chaotic life would be without laws. You would be living in fear all the time. That doesn't sound very free to me.

Which would beg the question - why would the US want what would swiftly become a magnet for organised crime, money laundering, trade in illicit items etc in the middle of its territory? (unless you're proposing this is like a state on the moon or something) I mean the corporations already have Delaware for the classy skulduggery, I'm sure they don't need AnCapTopia.

sounds like you're scared of freedom. Come on, just learn self defense and have a schedule to stand guard at night.

Such a state would end up being controlled by whoever had money and resources to exert control. Somalia is a good example of this.

You're making yourself sound very ignorant. Lay off the pot for a little while, bro.
