We had a thread for the players of the instrument. Now, we have one for the music itself.

My personal favorite are Rush's "YYZ," The Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction," and the Beatles' "Come Together." If we're talking jazz, "So What" is an amazing bass feature.

Discuss!

How about Jaco Pastorius' composition "Portrait of Tracy"? Now that's a bass feature.

Stanley Clarke's "School Days", Jeff Berlin on the Bruford track "5g" and, well, just about everything on Jaco's debut album come to mind.

Right on! JPJ essentially improvised the whole thing, making it even more impressive.

JPJ is a very, very underrated musician - both as a bassist and keyboard player.

I know. One time, I was watching this radio show, and the host said that Led Zeppelin had "one of the best guitarists of all time, Jimmy Page; one of the best drummers of all time, John Bonham; one of the best vocalists of all time, Robert Plant; and John Paul Jones." Let that sink in for a minute Tongue

Not sure about "all time", but "Feel Good Inc." by Gorillaz has a very fine bassline.

Finally someone with it, I inherently think about Tommy the Cat when I hear the word 'bassline'.
