Plymouth

Capital: Boston
Biggest City: Boston
Demonym: Plymouthites (or Pilgrims)
2012 Votes Cast: 3,946,443
2012 Election Result: 59.7% D, 40.3% R
2012 Electoral Votes: 16
2008 Election Results: 61.18% D, 38.82% R
2004 Election Results: 59.83% D, 40.17%
2008/2004 Electoral Votes: 15
Senators: Jack Reed (D), Elizabeth Warren (D)
Governor: Charlie Baker (R)
Sabato Rating: Safe D

Interesting that this state is actually less D than the real MA.  Wasn't expecting that.

East Massachusetts is actually closer to Lean D than Safe D (minus Boston). West Massachusetts, however, is very Democratic.

Strange how Appalachia swung more Republican from 2004-2008. Is that the only state that did that, or was there another so far?

Current electoral vote count:

Safe D: 69 EVs (Kennebec, Plymouth, Hudson, Mackinac)
Lean D: 56 EVs (Mohawk, Allegheny, Dearborn)
Tossup: 85 EVs (Susquehanna, Chesapeake, Albemarle, Biscayne)
Lean R: 24 EVs (Piedmont, Wabash)
Safe R: 34 EVs (Carolina, Appalachia, Erie, Cumberland)

So, yes, this is somewhat of a Democratic gerrymander, but I feel like that has a definitive chance of changing (Alaska split into two, parts of very Republican states added to Colorado, etc.)

Am now in the process of making a subpar 2012 election map in MS Paint.
