Right now it's just Cruz, Rubio, Carson, Christie, Bush and Paul

Rand is back on stage?

lol. If you call fundraising for wounded veterans pouting (i.e. actually making a difference instead of bickering about things that will never get done)...

lol because clearly sincere concern for wounded veterans is what's driving his decision...

So? Sincerity isn't required to help people. Further, I actually think helping veterans is something Trump does care about, even if it isn't as much as he lets on.

Doubt Trump cares about veterans. One thing we know for sure, is he doesn't care about veterans who had been captured and tortured in past wars. He belittles those veterans.
Like everything else with Trump .... his big mouth, and ego that goes along with it, gives him a bad reputation.

Hmm, I guess this could backfire spectacularly. Then again everybody thought the same thing when he called for the Muslim ban or mocked McCain and a disabled reporter. He can of course also use this as part of his "not part of the establishment" narrative. And moreover, as he himself said, he could shoot someone and his supporters would still vote for him.

If that were the case, then how come he didn't do that at all the last X-amount of debates he attended? No, he's intimidated by Megyn Kelly and doesn't want to be treated "badly" again. He's exploiting veterans for the optics: to give his supporters the impression that he cares more about veterans than being in the company of "lightweight losers" on the debate stage, and of course, they'll eat it right up as proof of how he's going to "make America great again." Him not being on the debate stage to defend himself, however, does make him look weak to the average voter, but Trump's supporters are NOT your average voter.

I think they should bring in Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to stand in for Trump.
Won't work because Triumph can't bring his cigar

I honestly have no clue how this plays out, but for the first time I feel that Trump has made a serious miscalculation. The optics are just bad, even by Trump standards.

What a big cry-baby that TrumpDump is.
"I'm not going to be treated fairly .... so I'm going to stay home and pout."
Unbelievable !

A 'ProudModerate' should be attacking Cruz (and Rubio for that matter) much more than TRUMP.

No, skipping the debate and pretending that it's so you can hold a fundraiser for wounded veterans is pouting. He could have gone to the debate and then held a fundraiser for veterans the next day. This is a temper tantrum and nothing more.

Sure he might legitimately care about helping veterans but that's still obviously not why he's doing this. He's helping veterans as an excuse to skip the debate not skipping the debate so he can help veterans. Thus the crybaby view is accurate. Do you really disagree with any of this?

Trump's campaign has been very clear that he is skipping the debate because he thinks Megan Kelly is a half baked journalist. He's doing the veterans event because he now has the free time.

I don't view it as a "crybaby" move at all.

When you're being led into a trap on hostile ground, standing there and taking it is hardly the best strategy. I view it as a tactical masterstroke: don't let them beat you by playing along with the typical political game, redefine the game on your terms and break your opponents in ways they could never even hope to achieve. The incredible thing is that Trump actually has the gall to go through with it; it's the type of move you only see in television or movies, something Frank Underwood might pull off, not your everyday politico. Trump's campaign has transcended politics into the realm of performance art, and it's incredible to behold.

Does Trump really care? Do any of them really care? I don't know. I don't think it really matters in the end. Everything these politicians do are calculated moves in some way. Cruz, Rubio, Bush, Fox News, Clinton-- they're all playing games, too, they just don't have the imagination to do it on the scale Trump does. Every once in a while it's nice when playing the game actually helps real people along the way.

Some anger in your tone there. Lief.
Seems that you have some "fear" about TrumpDump's decision not to attend the debate.

This is what Yoda would tell you :

"Fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering.”
"I sense much fear in you (Lief)."

I'm finally starting to believe Donald Trump may go on an easily win the republican nomination and will have a good chance at beating hillary in the general.

Come November we may be inaugurating Donald Trump as the next president of the United States....

After this long and thins close to primary season his poll numbers have only improved....im shocked....beyond shocked that I will probably be casting my vote for Donald Trump come November....Wow.

Donald Trump IMO will WIN the general election against Hillary and win it by a decent margin if Bloomberg runs third party.

Its time to face facts and realize these polls haven't been wrong for 7 months now. He wins Iowa and he will sweep the first four states and it will basically be about over at that point.

By the end of February the Republican party may be the one that is most sure of their nominee....Donald Trump, crazy crazy times we live in.

This is a long way from over.  I have read that the GOP party insiders are laying the groundwork for Rubio.  The move to Trump, which I admit even had me doubting what I know to be true, is a tactical move to get Ted Cruz out of the way.
Jeb Bush said with absolute confidence "Donald Trump is not going to be the nominee."  It was not a hope, not a prediction.  It was a fact.

Jeb Bush said with absolute confidence "Donald Trump is not going to be the nominee."  It was not a hope, not a prediction.  It was a fact.

So IMO the one guy who could emerge with a CHANCE to beat Trump is rubio, yet Jeb has spent 25 million bashing him. Every time i put the news on all i see is Jeb (who has NO SHOT) knocking rubio. So sorry but call me skeptical of what Jeb has to say.

The candidate will end up being Trump or Rubio.....The choice is obvious but the party has clearly shown when people called us the party of "stupid" they MAY have very well been right. Were ABOUT to find out.

It couldn't be ANY MORE OBVIOUS who gives the republicans the best chance at re-taking the white house and thats Marco Rubio.

A hispanic senator from the MUST win state of Florida (Republicans lose Florida or Ohio there is no path to a win). He's a great debator, conservative and on a stage with a 70 year old Hillary will make her look 90. The choice is obious.

But this is the republican party so im sure Donald will win and than lose to Hillary in the general. What a great party were apart of, pathetic.

I hate to be so blunt but im just so SICK of how incompetent this party is. I apologize again.
