Its very easy to prevent people from crossing state lines to get abortions.  Congress can pass a statute prohibiting this practice, as it is interstate commerce and within the purview of the Federal Government.

yeah good luck enforcing that without putting border guards on every state border.

Actually, they'd just have to require that abortion clinics request ID.

However, such an act would be a very dangerous one - what other things could they forbid people to cross state lines for? If they can do it with one item or service, they can do it with anything. It would be foolish to allow such a precedent to be set.

Because fake IDs are so difficult to get a hold of.

I actually know of at least three people who had fake IDs prior to turning 21, and were never caught.

Well, there's more than IDs they can check - Social Security, verifiable address, ect. You'd be suprised how much data there is to verify a person's status.

Indeed. Look, $50 will get you a round-trip Greyhound bus ticket for a medium-distance trip. Incidentally, I've taken the bus before: twice, both round-trips from DC to New York, both for roughly $40 round-trip (although this is a few years ago). Most of the people on the bus, in my experience, were/are...:

1. Working or lower class (middle class travelers usually fly, drive, or take a train)
2. Students (especially college students)
3. Military personnel
4. Nuns
5. Tourists (the US is the #3 tourist-place in the world).

You mentioned gays. But this is what the article actually says:

San Francisco's large gay population — estimated at 20 percent by the city Public Health Department — is thought to be one factor, though gays and lesbians in the city are increasingly raising families.

Another reason San Francisco's children are disappearing: Family housing in the city is especially scarce and expensive. A two-bedroom, 1,000-square-foot starter home is considered a bargain at $760,000.

Uhm...and? You don't think a 20% population of people who will likely never reproduce doesn't have an effect on it? Not to mention whatever other people in the city don't reproduce.

You support legalized abortion, but that doesn't mean you should support bullsh**t rulings.

Yes it's a factor, though housing is more interesting because it affects not just San Francisco but the entire state.

I heard on the radio this morning that an Francisco has the least number of children of any major city in the country.

Why is liberalism correlated with sterility?

Because reproducing is dumb.

Eh, marginally.  But in my case they're fairly well off - certainly in the top few percent.  For most people, you're not doing your offspring any favours by condemning them to a life of toil.

Speak for yourself, I rather enjoy being alive, even though I have to work. If the worst thing that happens to you in life is having to work for a living, consider yourself lucky.

You must be a conservative troll posing as a liberal.  Even if you favor having abortion be legal, I can't imagine anyone viewing them as anything other than tragedy, if only for all effort and risk (not even counting any that accues because of the law) that a woman must face to get one.

Why? Most leftists support the fake amendment that makes abortion legal in all 50 states.
