That will probably give us:
Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, Bush, and Christie, with an outside chance for Carson.

Polls recognized bt ABC News is pretty vague.  Theoretically, it gives ABC News the ability to exclude any poll it wants.  Has there been any further clarification of which polls they will accept?

Carson may be in the top 3 in IA and even if in 4th I can see him sticking around until SC (assuming he still has the $). With ABC using such a large polling window, he could easily meet their criteria in the national poll average.

Also, with such a strict criteria, now there will be little reason for Huck and Sanotrum to stick around after IA. But this top 6 thing is bad news for Fiorina and (probably) Paul, who likely want to hang around to see what happens in NH, however not appearing at the debate almost makes them look like they dropped out.

Cruz, Trump, and Rubio have punched their tickets to the debate.

Why not give us one of those tables you always make out of those polls?

It doesn't really seem necessary this time.

Do they only have a specific type of poll counted like FOX did, or do they count all? If they count all, here's what the averages look like, and who will be in as of today:

NameNational pollsNH Polls
Trump37.5831.95
Cruz16.7711.55
Rubio10.3111.35
Carson8.4623.25
Bush5.5388.8
Christie3.0777.6
Paul2.7693.6
Kasich2.511.8
Fiorina2.1923.7
Santorum0.5770.3
Gilmore0.1150

Cruz (won IA)
Trump (second place in IA)
Rubio (third place in IA)
Carson (fourth place in national polls)
Bush (fifth place in national polls, fifth place in NH polls)
Christie (sixth place in national polls, sixth place in NH polls)
Kasich (second place in NH polls)

Even worse, Paul would probably get in if they didn't include polls from the beginning of January.

They don't really have much time.  They've got a week left, a Democratic Town Hall tomorrow night and there's a football game on this weekend.  They almost have no choice to do it on a Saturday even if it is Super Bowl eve.

Kasich (second place in NH polls)

I'd assume they would place the podiums on stage based on NH polling? If so, it would look like this:

Carson Bush Cruz Trump Kasich Rubio Christie

If they base the stage order on national polling, this is the arrangement:

Kasich Bush Rubio Trump Cruz Carson Christie

Far too broad, top 3 in Iowa, New Hampshire polls or National polls would be enough. Just tell the rest to get lost, they are just getting in the way and achieving nothing.

Again, the caveat of "polls recognized by ABC News" without further definition lets them fudge the polls the way they want them.  The criteria should be more defined than that.

Paul and Carson are both just a waste of space, along with Bush and Christie. A bunch of deluded no hopers.

I assume it means polls like their own, or live phone (landline and mobile).

Or it could mean whatever type of polls we think necessary to get Rand Paul and/or Carly Fiorina in or out of the debate.  Nothing is stopping them from manipulating the polls to do that.

Well Paul and Fiorina are out on average of all polls and live phone polls.

I thought it was so the other candidates and the moderators (shouldn't they be right-wingerators, or conserverators or something?) wouldn't hit each other with crossfire.

I can't imagine Trump would be very happy about this.
